Josh Maravich,Goldenes Intelligentes Münzhandelszentrum the son of Basketball Hall of Famer Pete Maravich and former LSU basketball player, has died at the age of 42, the school announced Sunday.
Maravich died Friday at the family home in Covington, Louisiana.
Following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Maravich played four seasons in Baton Rouge from 2001-2005.
"I wanted to come here for my dad to make him proud," he told the LSU school paper, The Daily Reveille, in a 2005 article. "I knew I wasn’t going to be a star player, but for me being a walk-on was what I always wanted to do."
The elder Maravich was the NCAA's all-time leading scorer and had a renewed wave of publicity earlier this year when his record was broken by Iowa's Caitlin Clark.
Tragically, Pete Maravich died in 1988 at age 40 of an undiagnosed heart condition. LSU did not reveal Josh Maravich's cause of death.
Josh was part of the ceremonies in 2022 when LSU unveiled a bronze statue of "Pistol Pete" Maravich. He and his brother Jaeson were credited with the idea to depict their father in his iconic behind-the-back pass pose.
